TITIP Students !!!

This was our first time to be involved with the Papuan students in TITIP!  They had been inviting us to join their fun night.  At last we did! And we liked it very much!

TITIP students are young Papuan gentlemen and ladies.  They are coming from the different tribes of Papua.  They had finished their high school and before going on to further education they choose to enroll this vocational school in TITIP.

On thanksgiving day, they presented a skit and a dance! The skit portrayed how the highlands and people from the coast came to know each other and Christianity. At first, they thought they were the only people living in the land.  SO when the two tribes met each other-- they fought.  But gladly, a missionary came and shared the gospel to both of them.  Then they reconciled!

The first photo are: the first photo is the new generation of Papuans; second picture represents the highlanders in Papua.  The third photo is the picture of the people from the coast.

Dedication of MAF new Kodiak in Papua, Indonesia!

MAF-Papua team are glad to receive a new Kodiak to be of service to the Papuan people!
We praise and thank the Lord for this provision. And so we had a dedication day with singing and prayers.  Pak Sam was leading it, followed by Ibu Lucy and Miles McClure who lead us to prayer of thanksgiving and offering!

PK-MAX is the new name of this Kodiak.  We hope that soon we are given authorization to fly this tool for the Lord service in Papua!  May there'll be showers of blessing to us MAF staff, our supporters, our family and friends!

Yes, we know that this is an old logo! We will wait for the proper time to change it.

"Olah raga" or sports with Ultimate friesbee!

After our MAF half-day of prayer, it's time for MAF-Karyawan ( national workers) to play sports or games at MAF base in Sentani!  This time a new game was introduced by our athletic MAF-expats!

Karin Allrich and Natalie Holsten were the acting trainers on how to play " the Ultimate Friesbee"!

Hang-on a second! Before these ladies gave instruction to our Papuan brothers and sisters.  They were given a chance to do some practice! That was a chaos and lots of fun and laughters because those friesbees would just fly like flying saucers. It would hit on electric wires, almost broke my window glasses and damage my beautiful hibiscus plants! But they had a blast! So I am ok with it! :-)

MAF half-day of prayer & sports!

As I was looking around the office, I saw these plaques that represent our faithful pilots who lost their lives on service with MAF to the Papuan tribes and Indonesians.  In each plaque has its own life verse from the Bible. They are indeed worthy to be honored!

This is the (pendeta), or a minister who imparted God's words to us and encouraged us on his sermon this morning.  His theme was " Sukacita Melayani" or the Joy of Serving! He was mentioning our calling, the reasons why we are here and he used John 3:16 as text!

Didik an MAF Karyawan, Indonesian worker spotted good things that helped MAF Safety Operation.
One time, he spotted a bullet that hits a plane tire following an incident to one of the villages where MAF operates.  Didik has been acknowledged by our Chief of Maintenance! It was a surprise for Didik and he was grateful to receive it!

Homeschooling and learning!

This year I decided to homeschool Marielle.  I am using Sonlight which is an American Curriculum.  I have been to one of the Homeschooling Conferences way back 2009 in the US.
.

Once a week Marielle has a craft day with other girls, Reece and Zoe. Natalie Holsten is handling their Craft Day every Friday!

Marielle and Reece are the 2 buddies in homeschool at the MAF base in Sentani.
They were making Egyptian collar from their History subject!

Starring Becky Perez, Reece's mom praying before they start the day of lesson.  Each of them has to pray and give thanks.

Becky and I are taking turns to teach each week just for one day.  The girls are so happpy to become classmates in homeschool time!

Johan's first day at school!

Johan started his schooling in August 22, 2012.  He was very excited to see his close friends and schoolmates.  He loves school for sure!  For that reason, we are glad and happy!

Mrs. Dion McClure is handling the 4th grade where Johan is sitting this year.
Johan has Korean, Papuan, Canadian and American classmates.  They are International School because of that I guess, but they are using an American curriculum.

Papuan meals!

I just wrote about recently the Indofood and Filipino style of cooking.  Here I wanted to know of what the real Papuan food.  The photo below shows my "pembantu" ( house girl) with "singkong", called cassava in a known language in her hand.

Her name is Melince.  I got her when she was selling bananas at my front yard.  For the first time, I have to ask her to buy cassava for me so we could both eat it!  I love it!

This woody looking fruit is called singkong in Bahasa Indonesia and kamoteng kahoy in Visayan language.  You need to peel the fruit and the flesh is white and hard.  When you boil it, usually that's how the Papuan cooked it, you would see that it turns into yellow.  They said that this fruit is rich in cyanide which is very poisonous.  So there is a special process on how you peel it, cook it and prepare it!
