Family fun and festive!

On Marielle's 4th birthday! There are 4 culture to compromise in opening presents. For Dutch: you have to open in front of he giver to see both reactions. For Americans: you have to open it in-front of all the guests, for Filipinos: you have to keep the gifts and open it after all the guests are gone and lastly: for Javanese: for children's gifts you can open it directly but for adults you have to wait until the guests are gone!
The right photo: package received from the Opa en Oma of Marielle in the Netherlands.

beef meat and the rest

I just bought my ground beef in this market. This is one of the cleanest place in town to buy beef and good quality! ... hey what you're thinking mate?

"nothin is hidden mate"

There is no way you can see this in Wal-Mart, Bi-lo, and Albert Hijn ( voor Nederlands) supermarket because everything there are well-prepared, easy and ready to go packaging, right? Indonesia, Philippines and maybe Thailand, the market should look like this. Do you dare to do your shopping here, of course mate, you will get use to it!

cabe or the red chillis

Red chillis are Indonesian's most demanding commodity. Prices increase as high as a rocket for them since there were two volcanic activity last year and the incomprehensible changes of weather. For now the price of these red chillis is $10 or Rp 110.000 per kilo.

"Market in Salatiga"

Hanging beef not hanging bridge! This is how the market here in Indonesia. Most of the meat is freely exposed. The packaging department is not being organized yet, so it is not so appetizing!

Market in Salatiga!

different types of baskets where people could use for storage of food and shoppings from the market itself. It can be used too to sift the rice from all the bugs therein.
